Book Suggestions, please!!

I don’t understand what happens, and how this happens, but as soon as the holiday season kicks in, I start losing myself to negativity and uncertainty. I start losing all the hope and faith inside of me, and give in to the terrible anxiety and fear. These times are really trying, and however much I try it is extremely difficult to come out of it easily.

As always my consolation comes from books, being the recluse that I am. But somehow, whatever I am getting hold of recently seems to be depressing, either there is someone who dies, or something that keeps the protagonist in constant misery, there is only pain and suffering in what I am reading too.

So, basically I need book suggestions that do not include any kind of heartache. Please, I am really clinging onto you guys now, I need to revive my faith and get back on the right track.

I want to start my new year with something that brings smile to my face, and not with something that leaves me dejected and wondering.

Anything, please…. (You must know I am desperate, if only to read something good.)

Happy holidays 🙂 as far as suggestion of a book is concerned and you don’t want heartache so I would suggest you to read – “ My name is red” by Orhan Pamuk. It’s a great book and one of my favourites! Basically a murder mystery you cannot resist plus beautifully written with excellent use of vocabulary. Mr. Orhan is a Nobel prize winner in literature with the book describing a sustained way of using personification. It’s a beautiful story based on tensions between the east and west (in terms of art and colours) , rivalry and endless romance. Hope you read this book and if you do let me know. Further it won’t give heartaches if you can read murder;) .

The moment I read “book suggestions”…I had this long list of novels in head. But the moment I read the ones without misery. That list just vanished. I realized how almost all my books have so much pain and misery.

But if I had to suggest something ‘not sad’, novels by Catherine Alliott (they do have nice story for easy reading and I like her sense of humor, I don’t remember any miserable part in her stories). Or reading poems might be a good idea. Recently I am reading Rumi. I won’t say there is no sadness in them, but it is peaceful kind of misery. Misery that you just make peace with.

    Hope this helps 🙂

Oh so you also get into this gloomy, depressive sad lonely phase when holiday begins?!! I can understand that!
Regarding book idea, it will depend on your taste i think…try ‘nudge’ …i have not read it but have heard good reviews and would want to read it…
