Abandoned August

It is a truth universally acknowledged that when you plan something, the said plan slips out of your hand, seeping away through your fingers, and leaving you bereft of itself. In order to avoid this once again this month, I had no plans for August. When time and again, March and May all left me so I decided it was time to let time play with me in its own form. And it sure did. When I abandoned August, it embraced me pretty well. When I made no plans, no goals, the month ended up being more productive than I thought was possible.

It started with what was left from July, a writing project that marked 55k words in the midst of this month. Initially it was supposed to be a novella, but my characters had their own plan, and the story simply flowed. So now I have a new first draft while my old ones sit on my computer craving for my attention.

Apart from the said project I managed to write 6 new poetries and the theme itself took me by surprise. It was a new arena for me and I think I can safely say that was rather fun. The newness was even comforting for once. The month was good even in terms of reading and I continued trying myself, and tiring myself with genres that I have avoided in the past. Needless to say it is fun but it also keeps be away from the kind of books I like to read. But it is an experiment that I am trying to do with myself, branching out of my comfort zones, and hence I am reading more 2 to 3 star books than I would like.

So in all I think August was good, shravan was good.

When I abandoned something it came back may be I need to do this more often. Not try to be in control so much?

What do you think?

How was your august?

As you see mine has been unnervingly okay. Tell me about yours while I bring to you the story of the month called: The Lost Queen.

Listen to it here: The Lost Queen

lol my August was full of surprises … my annual whale trip failed when my accom owner insisted I share his bed! Slim Ball #1! No accom, no stay, no whale watching … it’s peak season and I’d driven 500 km through a freak storm, then had to head home.

Retreated into meditation mode as it heals me quickest and more effectively. Then my creativity emerged even stronger … am now trying new types of videos that don’t appeal at all to me but my readers seem to love 🙂 Who would have guessed …

Controlling stuff is dangerous, going with the flow works much better for me 🙂

Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us here. I agree controlling is dangerous. But I will admit I am only trying to let it go. Flow and me aren’t the best of friends yet.

nothing worth attaining is easy, and our habits are deeply ingrained … persist as it’s well worth the effort 🙂

My August was okay, writing-wise. I’m a slow writer, so I got some work done. Actually only one flash fiction that I’m waiting to submit now.
I love your youtube reading. Subscribed to it. Great way to get your writing through.

Thank you so much. Youtube is only a new I am trying to share my writing since other platforms are mostly becoming fast and furious, more like asking content that grabs attention in like half a second.
