The credit for the title of this post goes completely to journaling. Now, I wouldn’t call journaling a new habit. In fact, I started writing in my journal anything and everything around high school and have continued since. It’s been more than a decade now and I think that if nothing, the practice of journaling has given me a sense of calm, mostly when the outside forces are anything but.
So this past whole month I have gone back to where it all started. I took out my journal and a pen and wrote whatever came to mind. I didn’t worry if what I was writing was good or bad, if I needed to edit it, I just wrote.
I accepted what Faulkner said, “Get it down. Take chances. It may be bad, but it’s the only way you can do anything really good.”
And I wrote. That’s all I did. My writing varied from small paragraphs on nothing and everything, to pages after pages on my chaotic feelings, from snippets and poetries to gratitude for everything. And before I knew it I started feeling a little more collected, a little more grounded.
All of this to say that sometimes I need to let go of my schedules and plans and do what I need to do. In this case though, September turned to be mostly productive. I ended up reading more on writing as an art and a couple of books on editing your own work. I hope I am able to keep the tricks in mind the next time I sit down to write.
Until then, I will leave the next story from Girl Woman Goddess below. Also, my previous books, both poetry and short stories are currently discounted on Amazon outside India, so in case it applies to you I hope you manage to grab a copy or two and tell me how I can improve my writing more.

Also tell me, do you journal? And if so then how do you practice it? Do you find anything that works specially for you? And what do you write in your journal, your feelings, your emotions, you plans? Do you think your journal gets philosophical?
Until then I hope you listen and enjoy my short story called Love Letters.
