- Plan, plot & predict: First thing first if you want to write this novel that you are craving is planning your story. Draft, plot, characterise, know what you want to do with your story and how you want to take it ahead. It all makes the process a little easier and faster. Remember this is about getting your story written, good bad does not matter. Don’t forget to predict that you are the writer and you could want your story to go in different directions as you write ahead.
- Read: read whatever you get. Read poetry, plays, novels, read a genre that is similar to what you want to write or a genre that is completely different from yours. But read. I read this somewhere- for every 5 pages you write, read at-least 15. And this is one of the best advice I have ever got.
- Set time aside: If you want to just wing it that may be fine but setting aside some time for your writing would be really beneficial. Your days may look different but if you just set aside an hour in the morning or evening you might just get the needed words. Sit down and write.
- Create a playlist: If you are someone who needs complete silence then it might not be for you but if you need a little boost then create a playlist right now so you can be in the mood for what you are writing.
- Pinterest board: create a mood board along. It is fun, distracting and yet helps in the creation of your story. Also, a great way to tag along your readers here.
- Bonus tip: a real board along with the notes on chapters, characterisation and events makes it a lot clear for you to easily navigate your book and get those words down.
