The need for a bedside table!

Published by

on

I lie on the bed with the lights dimmed already, with the temperature of the room set accordingly, and with the novel in my hand, ready to be lost into. In order to avoid any kind of disturbance I put my phone away, on the study table at the far corner (I donโ€™t need it anyway plus it helps me wake up in the morning if it is far away). All set for the perfect โ€˜alone timeโ€™ I start reading the book.

A page or two goes by and then I have something in my mind; a topic on which I feel should write and share it with my fellow bloggers. So I lazily stand up, scribble on a post it and stick it on the wall to remember the next day. So there I slump again on the bed, cuddle against a cold sheets, soothing and yet again I loose myself amidst the fictional world.

This time not even a paragraph goes by when I remember something from the day and again, unwilling I get up, post-it on the wall and return, this time making it sure I would not get up before I complete ten pages.

And so I wait for the ten pages to be done, and hastily get up before I forget to jot it down, and there goes another post it on the wall. This is how my wall is always clustered with post-it for to do lists, for something to share with my blogger friends, and even something that I have to let other people know.

This goes on for a while, until I am tired enough to get up again, after which I unwillingly take my phone with me, so that I at least do not have to get up. After another couple of reminders set on my phone, finally I decide to doze off. It is after all 1:00 AM.

Of course my mind is unwilling to shut down and so I aid to my ear phones, leaving behind my comfy bed, one last time. Somehow amidst the dreams of the story going on in the novel, with the lyrics of the songs and with many other unfiltered thoughts in my mind I doze off, finally.

And that is how my mother finds me often, early in the morning, with music flowing through the earphones and yet scattered somewhere under the pillow, with my phone snoozed off and hidden somewhere between the sheets, and the novel that I would be reading tucked beside me. And every single morning she would wake me with same monotonous say, โ€œWhy do you have to sleep with all of these things? Why canโ€™t you just keep them all away on the table?โ€

And every single time I would say, โ€œI just need a bedside table, mom. It would solve all my lazy problems. You donโ€™t know the struggle of waking up once you are tucked into bed, restfully.โ€

โ€œYeah, right! But why do you have to get up in the middle of the night anyway?

It’s good you get that side, as of me I do not have that much space in here, so for now I am enjoying the clutter where as my mom does’t realise the need to sleep with that clutter and also the extent to which her daughter is lazy.

I have thought of doing it a lot of times, bud I have bare minimum space beside my bed, so as of now I am choosing the clutter on my bed over the table.
Thanks a lot for your visit. I am so glad.

So true!!! It’s so important to have a last-minuteโ€‹ saviour when one is about to fall into deep slumber and just need a clutter-free support to dump stuff at hand without worrying about disturbing anything and the sleep!

You know what…. I wanted you to be the first one to know this! I was busy house hunting here in mumbai and found all sorts of matchbox sized houses or exorbitantly prized ones… finally after a lot of search found one which i liked…and the best part of it – it has a big long balcony!! (I remember we once discussed this). 21st floor with a view of hills on one side and a smaller view of the Indian Ocean on the other!! So excited and happy! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

        Oh my God!!!
How did you even get such a great place? I mean it’s sure great that you got it, but it must have been extremely hectic and time taking. I mean it’s mumbai, and you got a balcony, and an ocean view????/
I am happy that you landed it up, So is it in Bandra? or Churchagate?? I am sure you will love this place.
And sorry for being so late to reply. My posts will tell you why. I am running a bit busy too.

Even i cant thank my stars!! I spent so many days searching and landing up at dingy dirty apartments that I almost gave up but then out of sheer luck a colleague who was also doing house hunting told me about this place. He liked it a lot but his wife didnt (it seemed a little small as per their requirements) so he told me. I checked it and found it perfect for me! (I don’t have much stuff) and the landlord also liked me so i got the deal!! That too without paying brokerage!! And you know what, as soon i paid the token amount, a girl came alongwith broker and then my landlord told her it’s already taken…and she felt sad but wanted to still check the place which she couldnt get…and then she was blown away by it and the balcony and the view!! She felt so dejected that even i started feeling bad!! ๐Ÿ˜ž
It’s not in bandra!! That’s so expensive you must be knowing!! ๐Ÿ˜ It’s near Mindspace. And ocean view is a bit of exaggeration i must say… it’s a partial view of aksa beach and far away (around 10 km)…but i do get to see the sea! ๐Ÿ˜ But still i had to shell out a lot for this place! ๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ˜”
Np about late replies….even im lagging behind these days!! House hunting, work, paper works, now going on a long leave to home and then when im back will shift to new place…. quite a lot going on!
